Stormossen - Waste Management company / Finland
Both individuals and companies are able to take their garbage from ex. gardens and construction sites etc., including special waste to a nearby retrieval plant. Stormossen has 12 plants in the region, with about 100 000 visits/year. Before the new system was implemented, customers used to pay for each visit in cash or with a credit card.
The system was time consuming and inefficient. No real-time information, reporting or monitoring. Threat of misuse.
NEW METHODOLOGY AND APPROACH:
UpCode has delivered and implemented a system for self services in POS with personal ID. UPC Center has developed the concept and delivered the IT solution as well as produced the actual product.
Stormossen sent out customer cards with individual UpCode 2d codes to all customers (about 60 000). Starting 1.1.2014 customers use their cards for identification and payment when visiting a plant. The worker at the plant scans the code on the card with a mobile phone. The system then keeps track on how many visits were made to each plant (also type of visit) in real time and transfers transaction data. The card is also a information channel for the customers. Stormossen can at any time put out messages for the customers to see when scanning a code.
